Sexual violence is ANY type of unwanted sexual contact. This includes words and actions of a sexual nature against a person's will. People may use force, threats, manipulation or coercion to commit sexual violence. Sexual violence can be committed without the knowledge or consent of the victim, or against a person who is unable to give consent.
Sexual Violence shows no boundaries of age, gender, race, socioeconomic background, or religion. Sexual violence takes place in ALL communities both urban, suburban, and rural.
1 in 4 females and 1 in 6 males will be sexually abused in some way by age 18. It is a world-wide epidemic.
The mission of PASSAGES, Inc. is to advocate for the rights and needs of survivors of sexual violence, while working to eliminate all forms of sexual violence by educating community members and promoting social change.
It is estimated that every minute of every day in America, someone becomes the victim of sexual violence. The probability of an individual′s life being harmed by this horrible crime is great. PASSAGES, Inc. is dedicated to the provision of free and confidential 24-hour services to victims / survivors of sexual violence as well as prevention / educational programming throughout Clarion, Clearfield, and Jefferson Counties
